On Thursday, October 24th, we gathered for a truly inspiring evening, where we connected, shared stories and laid the groundwork for stronger partnerships as we work to build a healing space for trauma recovery in our community.
At the heart of the night was the unveiling of insights from our Community Needs Assessment. The findings sparked meaningful discussions on the challenges our community members face and how we can continue to adapt our programs to better meet their needs. We were honored to be surrounded by clients, partners, and donors who share in our mission, and we’re excited to take the next steps in this journey together.
Beyond the conversations, we shared recommendations through our Community Vision collage board, chose colorful yarns that contributed to a beautiful art piece that was completed by the end of the evening, and explored the items in our online auction.
Event Highlights
In our Psychosocial Care Storytelling Corner, we were privileged to hear the story of one of our clients. She shared with us her journey of fighting for her land in Chile, highlighting her struggles and the persecution her family faces from the police. She also joyfully expressed her gratitude to PTR for the help she has received and engaged all those gathered in a brief healing exercise.
Guests stepped into the world of the African Community’s Program, learning about the team’s Outreach work and psychoeducational workshops done to empower those in the African Diaspora.
True to the spirit of the evening, an interpreter reconnected with her very first client during our Interpreter Program Session! The moment was a priceless reminder of what we do at PTR. It was a time to reflect on the importance of bridging the language barrier for all our clients and an inspiration to keep going!
Those who checked out our counseling program were given a glimpse into PTR’s innovative therapy approaches through practical Destress Activities. Guests were taught tools that they could use to relax in very stressful situations.
